My son is 4! I know, only 4, but it feels like 20. I can't believe he is already 4, riding a bike, practicing on his little skateboard and able to pick out cars models with a single glance!
Yesterday he asked me "Am I allowed to drive our family car yet?"
I asked him if he thought that was the right age to start driving one the road with other cars. He said 'yes'. I politely suggested that maybe he should ask a Police Officer, but that he is not willing to do and became quite shy at the thought. He advised that he would like me to ask a Police Officer if he is old enough to drive.
"It would look quite silly, for me to ask", I advised.
"What would they do if they saw me driving Mom?" I responded by saying they may arrest you and take the car away. He did not like that response. I told him that he must wait at least another 12 years. He then proceeded to count out the years with his fingers and did not like what that added up to be.
As I go through the last few days, grasping the thought of my little boy being all of 4, I re-visit my Artist friend Louie Rochon's website only to come across the following posting by him:
What happened to my little boy?
I will never forget my Mom's reaction when my brother moved out of our family home years ago. She just stood in his empty bedroom staring out the window crying and repeating the phrase "My baby is gone. My little boy has moved out. My baby is gone."
Experiencing this actually kept me at home longer. I almost moved out once, when I had finished high school. She started to get upset at the thought of it and that brought the memory back & made me cancel my West End apartment application. I just couldn't do that to her again, at least not yet. That seems like a lifetime ago now.
Well, I had better go enjoy my boy while he is 4 and not thinking of moving out yet (ha ha).
FYI: That is KORKI in the middle photo. She dropped by with a large bag of balloon swords for the kids.
Have a great day!
Keep smiling and creating!
