Putting yourself in your paintings...
(I introduce to you.... Mother Earth!)
As many of you know, I was commissioned to paint a canvas of one of my girls using mostly lime green and bright pinks. I used a large canvas (24" x 36"). After meeting with the Interior Designer, she requested that I reproduce the painting on a smaller canvas, as she would like to hang it above a tall dresser.
This smaller canvas is currently being lovingly displayed in the BC Children's Hospital home lottery in Morgan Creek, Surrey.
The original canvas has been relaxing on an easel in my kitchen for a few weeks now begging to be completed.
I kept looking at her for the longest time, thinking that she still needed some extra oomph, pizazz, ....PERSONALITY!!
And so, the make-over began...
I painted the background chocolate, added sexy vine embellishments to her gown, while going with a staple...her 'Little Black Dress'!
Last night, she said no to be varnished, as something was still missing.
A tattoo?....no
A necklace?....no
Words?.......YES!!
Although I cannot, as of yet, locate my bronze paint. I added my favorite quote using a metallic champagne acrylic. Tonight I will search for my metallic bronze to accent the letters and then.... it's Varnish Time, Baby!
She will then be on display as of 01 February in the front window at Artful Things in South Surrey!
Keep smiling and creating!
