Inspiration and 'The Drift'

Yesterday my friend Lorill accompanied me into Vancouver to check out the Art Tour 'The Drift'.

Unfortunately many of the places on the map seemed to be closed (???).
Although the one art studio I had planned on visiting ended up being the best thing we saw all day. Laura Gibson opened up her house to all art seekers. Her place is fabulously funky! bright tangerine, lime green and magenta walls lines with her artwork. Laura is also a functional artist like myself. Using handbags, buttons, jewellry, etc to show of a good percentage of her work. She is amazing!

Next month she will have a booth at the annual Circle Craft Christmas Market in Vancouver. You should definately make a point of check her recent work out, as it is NOT TO BE MISSED!
I bought one of her magnets (see princess image) and hope to have either a handbag or canvas in my collection soon.

Seeing all her works made me come home and 'have to' paint. As you can see I have a wonderful large jar of liquitex magenta paint that I just had to dip my brush into (ha ha).

FYI: I will he having my studio open for an Open House Art Sale on Oct 21st. Stay tuned for details.

Keep smiling and creating!
