Paper Mache!

(this photo is of a paper mache hat I made (in 2000, I think) to attend a theme party. We had to have a hat, and I am not a big 'hat' fan. It looked great for the party, but was very uncomfortable.)

I came across a vibrant paper mache artist's website today. Louie Rochon is his name. His work reminded me of a class I took a few years back. I had envisioned creating a paper mache wall unit that would be in the form of a very large tree with branches and many leaves and would take over one corner of our living room. (VISUAL: The type of tree that would be perfect for building a child's fort in) Unfortunately I was advised by the instructor that I must down size my project, as it had to be something of the size that would fit into my car, so that I could take it home every night. (I have never met a fun art teacher. Why is that?)

I ended up making a large martini which was the base of a table (unfortunately ended up lop-sided once dry) & then a large fork which is hanging on my kitchen wall (unfinished, I might add).
I love my fork! I just need to add more to it for strength and then add the long spaghetti noodles to hang off of it.
I feel inspired, I think I will work on that this weekend!

I have been in quite a funk for the past couple weeks and do not know why.
Thank you Louie, I think reading your 'blog' may have helped my climb out of the sand pit.

I will let you know how it goes.

(FYI: I still am unable to finish painting my art room. UGH!)

keep smiling & creating everyone!
