It's only Wednesday, but what an odd week it has been!
I have actually been back working in a downtown office part-time this week to help out a friend. Now that I am an Artist (or now that I focus on my artwork and do not have a '9 to 5 job'), it is interesting straddling two different worlds. The art world & the corporate world.
You sit there and watch people rush to & from work; try and get a good place in the bus line-up so that you might get a seat once on board; pack a lunch that you really don't want to eat; do duties that an employer has asked you to do; continue doing business on their cell phone even when the work day hours have ended...when all you want to do is none of the above.
It is funny how life works and you chug along doing the same thing day in and day out.
I remember years ago soon after my Dad passed away... the daughter of the couple that owned our company was killed in a car crash. Within days the mother/owner was back at work. Back in her routine. I was so angry at her for just continuing with it, It was like her daughter never existed. (I know that is probably far from the truth for her)
I just couldn't get over the thought that a life ends just like that, no moment of silence across the land, no fanfare to celebrate their existence, no loud scream, just the sound of the loud hamster wheel turning without so much as a stutter in its sequence.
Please take time out to do something fun and spontaneous with those you love and cherish.
